July 4, 2018 | Independence Day | by Kristina Cilia Photography | Vacaville Photographer
Happy Fourth of July! Also known as Independence Day, this federal holiday commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence by Congress on this day in 1776. The 13 original colonies were now a new nation and no longer part of the British Empire.
The United States of America celebrates this holiday with a variety of patriotic displays. Americans throughout the nation will often celebrate by gathering with family and friends to attend a parade, have a picnic or host a BBQ. We love to show our pride by adorning ourselves in red, white and blue clothing and accessories. The flag, also know as the Stars & Stripes or Old Glory, is flown proudly and adorns homes and city streets everywhere. If you’re feeling really patriotic you could recite the Pledge of Allegiance or sing ‘Yankee Doodle Dandy’. If it’s a hot day then folks love to cool off at the pool or spend the day at a lake. Then to top it all off, cities across the country, will light up the skies after dusk with a fireworks display usually choreographed to all sorts of patriotic music.
Not everyone will have the day off, but if you do, at least take a moment to relax and kick up your feet with a cold drink of your choice! Have a Happy 4th of July everyone and remember to have fun and be safe. Cheers!
